Inaugural Blog Entry
Welcome to Omek´s blog! This blog is intended for your benefit – to provide news and trends on developments in the gesture recognition space, offer specifics and details on upcoming Omek product releases, and feature innovative work being done by us, our partners and customers. Is there a topic that you´re interested in learning more about? Let us know and we´ll add it to the list.
Gesture recognition is being adopted well beyond the world of gaming, making its way into many of our everyday devices, from gesture-enabled televisions, laptops, PCs and smartphones, and even to automotive dashboards. New depth-sensing hardware systems are coming to the market, with each solution suited for distinct environments, distances from the camera, and form factor requirements. Omek´s offering is unique in that our software is sensor-independent. What exactly does that mean for you? Well, for developers it offers the advantage of being able to work with the latest depth-sensing technologies – you write your solution once and then can deploy it across different cameras. It means flexibility in this rapidly changing environment.
In the coming weeks we’ll post details on our next major release of Beckon, talk about the difference between motion tracking and gesture recognition, and highlight upcoming conferences of note. We would love to hear from you, so say hi and feel free to post a note in the comments section below.
Until next time. . .
